City of Rogers Street Department
Snow Removal Schedule
In the event of a snow, the City of Rogers Street Department
works around the clock if necessary to keep streets clear.
The Street Department has 2 Motor Graders, 3 Loaders,
3 Dump Trucks with snow plow attachments, and 4 Gravel
Spreaders. They also use Sand, Magnesium Chloride,
(effective from 32° F down to about 5° F) , and Salt,
(effective from 32° F down to about –6° F).
When it snows, the first priority for the Street Department
is access to the Hospital. Consequently, the first streets
to get plowed are the streets near the hospital, Rife
Medical Lane and Promenade Blvd.
The second priority is the access to and from the Fire and
Police Departments. After access to and from health and
safety institutions are addressed, the Street Department
starts on main streets and problem streets. Main streets
include New Hope, Dixieland, Poplar, First Street, Olive
Street, and de-icing on Hwy 71-B (8th Street), and Hwy 12
(Walnut). Problem streets include: Lake Atalanta Hill, the
Hills on Pleasant Ridge Road and the hill on the south
entrance of Brush Creek.
After these streets are passable, the Street Department
starts working on the rest of the 400+ miles of streets in
the City. To that end, Contractors have been contacted and
have been placed on an “on-call” list to be contacted in the
event of heavy snows.
Rest assured that when it snows, the men at the street
department will be working “round the clock” to keep the
streets in the City as safe as possible. To that end, we
would ask that people limit travel to an absolute minimum
during those days. It reduces the risk of accidents and
allows the City to plow the streets much quicker and safer.
