2012 Events -

 
Civil War Family Day
Saturday, June 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 
Explore the Civil War through living history, music, and activities for all ages.  This program is offered in conjunction with the traveling exhibition Portraits in Gray: A Civil War Photography Exhibition from the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, on view April 30 through July 21.  The museum will offer free admission to the special exhibition during this event. 
 
 

Frisco Festival
Saturday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 
Enjoy model train displays in the Education Annex and the grand opening of More to See . . . More to Do: The RHM Expansion at the museum.
 
 
 
A House in Mourning Candlelight Tours
Friday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 31, 7 to 9 p.m.
 
Adults and older children will be fascinated by these evening tours of the 1895 Hawkins House led by costumed interpreters.  The rooms of the museum's historic house will be decorated to illustrate the mourning and funeral customs of the turn of the 20th century, when funerals were typically held in the home.      
   
 
 
Holiday Open House
Sunday, November 25, 12:30 to 4 p.m.
 
Enjoy holiday crafts, refreshments, and tours of the 1895 Hawkins House.  This year's theme in the museum's historic house is A Winter Wonderland.  Discover how our ancestors coped with frigid winter weather, and see how they used batting, glitter, and tinsel to re-create wintry scenes in their holiday homes.
