STARTING SALARY EMT/FIREFIGHTER:
RFD has a competitive initial salary that varies based on qualifications. 2010 starting range for an EMT was 30k-33k, as well as differential pay for promotions, specials teams, paramedic, etc..

Retirement
LOPFI. Local
Police and Fire Retirement System. Employee contributes 6% per pay period and in
return City contributes 20.6% per pay period. 28

receive full retirement. 5 years vested.
AFLAC
Optional Plan. Used for cancer, accidents, hospitalization,
short-term disability, STD, Also has a 125 Cafeteria Plan.
Vacation
Firefighters start with 7 paid 24hr shifts per year after
first calender year is complete (potential for 35 straight days off a year). Up
to 11 shifts with seniority.

Direct Deposit
City sponsors you through First Western Credit Union if you
choose. You can also use Direct Deposit for any bank.
Long Term Care
Blue Cross, Blue Shield. Part of your insurance coverage. In
case you or covered individual are incapacitated by accident or illness.
457B Plan
Optional Plan through Morgan Keegan. Pre tax amount of check
used for your contribution for investments. City does not contribute.
Uniform's Provided
Basic uniform needs covered with the option to buy more.
Basic includes short/long sleeved shirts and polo's, ball caps, work-out
clothing, shoes,
formal wear, belt, and pants. Each year you are given a new
uniform allowance to replace what is worn.
Cafeteria Plan
For unreimbursed medical expenses and dependent day care.

City pays for life insurance for employee of twice annual
salary.

calendar year deductible, Max 2 per family per year. After deductible is met,
pays 80% in-network 60% out-
of-network services up to $5,000 per year in network, $20,000
out of network then 100%. Primary Care c-pay $30 Child Wellness $0. Starts 1st
of the month following the
completion of 30 days.
Prescription
Three Tier co-pay $10/$30/$50 34 days supply
Dental
Blue Cross, Blue Shield PPO. For in-Network Providers only. $25
deductible per yr for Preventative Care. Pays 50% for restorative Care.
Orthodontics up to age 19 pays
50%. Starts 1st of the month following the completion of 30 days.
Vision
