Fire Prevention Division
The Fire
Prevention Bureau is responsible for public Fire Safety
Education, Fire/Explosion Investigations, Fire Safety
Compliance Inspections, Plan Review for Fire and Life Safety
Systems, and coordinating community risk reduction programs
and services. The activities of the Bureau are embedded in
the fundamentals of "Prevention through Education,
Inspection, and Enforcement".
The Bureau is
under the direction of Battalion Chief Travis
Hollis, who is assisted by Captain Bill Rumsey, Fire Prevention Specialist Michael Dean, and
Administrative Assistant Sara Eckels. Together, this team
works closely with the Rogers Building Inspections
Department, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors to ensure
the safety of Firefighters and the Community.
Mission of the Bureau
It is the mission
of the Fire Prevention Bureau to provide our customers with
a greater quality of life through effective fire prevention
education, quality inspections, conducting detailed
investigations, implementing interactive community outreach
programs. We rely on our trained and experienced personnel
to reduce the loss of life and property from fire hazards.
Free Smoke Alarms!
Rogers Fire
currently offers free smoke alarms to anyone that needs
them. These smoke alarms can be obtained by stopping by our
Fire Marshal's Office located at 3003 West Oak Street and
requesting one. Someone will gladly come by and install the
smoke alarm if you need assistance.

smoke alarm.
It's not just important to make sure you have a smoke alarm.
It's important to make sure you have a working smoke alarm.
65% of house fires in 200-2004 with an occupant death had no
working smoke alarm. Do not unplug or disable our alarm just
simply because it keeps making noise. These problems are
often easily fixed by moving your alarm or changing your
alarm type.

Remember
to change your detector batter when you change your clock.
Some newer alarms have a special battery that you don't have
to change. Instead you replace the detector itself. Smoke
alarms can become dusty or otherwise malfunction over time.
Your average smoke alarm should be changed every 3-5 years.
(per manufactures recommendations).
Install smoke alarms on every level of the building,
including the basement, and in every bedroom. The alarm can
be placed on the ceiling or on the wall; however, it is
recommended that it be placed on the ceiling. The alarm
should be no less then 6 inches form corners (click image)
Public Fire Safety Education
The Rogers Fire Department is unique in the fact that we
have dedicated personnel for the sole purpose of promoting
and enhancing our public fire safety programs. Staff work
with area businesses, schools, and community groups to
create and deliver safety education.
Public Fire Safety Education
Rogers is home to one of the Fire
Safety Houses that the Arkansas Children's Hospital owns.
The Fire Safety House travels to public events and schools
throughout the year to education children and parents about
"home escape Plans" in the event of a fire. The house
provides a mobile classroom environment that can't be
duplicated. The safety house is on of the Rogers Fire
Departments most used and visible tools when it comes to
promoting fire safety. The safety house is available by
appointment to local business, organizations, or other area
fire departments.
Annual "In-Service" Training
The Fire Prevention Division will come
to your facility and provide on-site training for fire
extinguishers. The Fire Prevention Division utilizes a
state of the art fire extinguisher prop that does not
require the discharge of any chemicals. In return your
company is not out of any money refilling fire extinguishers
after the training is completed. No chemicals are
released into the environment. Cost: $0
Senior Safety Education
Our senior citizens are an important
part of our community. The Fire Prevention staff deliver an
education program specifically geared toward senior
citizens. Programs are delivered throughout the community,
as requested.
Youth FIRE Quest
The Youth FIRE Quest (Fire
Intervention and Re-Education) program was developed to work
with youth involved in or who have displayed an interest in
fire setting. It provides group or one-on-one intervention
sessions for youth who have been involved in a "Fire Play"
incident or who have been charged with a crime involving
fire. Referrals are received from parents, concerned family
members, the Juvenile Justice System, law enforcement, and
the court system. To receive help with this service
contact our Fire Prevention Specialist: Michael Dean. You can also call a state wide hot-line to
report arson or concerns. 501-568-FIRE
