Certificate of Occupancy
Certificate of Occupancy inspections are done after the
building has passed final inspection. Once the final has
been passed that gives the occupants permission to move
everything in and get it set up like it will be when they
open for business. When that is done they will need to
contact our office at (479)-621-1100 and set up a time for
us to come out and do the inspection, please allow 24hrs
notice. All new buildings will be required to have an
inspection from the fire marshal and all restaurants will be
required to have their Health Department inspection done
prior to our inspection. In addition, notify the Planning
Department that you are ready for a Certificate of Occupancy
and they will conduct their own site inspection.
Once the
building inspection is completed you will need to bring the
paperwork to our office, located at 301 W. Chestnut, where
you will pay a $25 inspection fee and we will print off the
Certificate of Occupancy. The Planning Department will then
verify that all the conditions of approval have been met
including, but not limited to, a drainage certification by
the engineer of record, a 3-year landscape guarantee and any
other required paperwork. Once the Planning Department has
signed the Certificate of Occupancy, you will need to take
it downstairs to the main entrance where you will pay for
your business license. Failure to obtain a Certificate of
Occupancy shall be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to
exceed $250.00 per day that said violation exists (Ord.No.
04-56). A new Certificate of Occupancy will have to be
obtained when there is a change of ownership or when a
business moves to a new location within the city limits.
