The story of historic Monte Ne is forever linked with the story of William Hope Harvey, also known as “Coin.” Over the course of his lifetime Harvey was a teacher, lawyer, mine operator, promoter, author, politician, and a leader in Arkansas tourism.

Today most of the resort he built at Monte Ne lies beneath the waters of Beaver Lake. But the fascination with Harvey and with Monte Ne lives on. Follow the links to the left and discover the story of one of our country’s most colorful characters.
