Jurhe Building (1894)

At the southwest corner of Walnut and Second Street stands the Juhre Building. The corner portion of this building was originally the home of the Rogers Grocery Company. In 1900 Charles Juhre bought the building. The downstairs was occupied by the J.W. Ford Grocery and Feed Store and the upstairs by Dr. J.G. Robison, a physician.

Juhre’s Meat Market opened in the western portion on January 1, 1900. The Bingham Photograph Gallery was located above the meat market. In 1908 the brick front was cut away and a new “single slant light,” a new style of window, was installed.

By 1917 much was added on to the original two-story structure. Quality Grocery, Cunningham’s Jewelry and Pressing Parlor, and the OK Barber Shop were some of the businesses located in this building. In later years it became the Rexall Drug Store. Today the main part of the building is home to the Daisy Airgun Museum.
