ROGERS' CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
The first church established after Rogers was founded in 1881 was the
Congregational Church. Mrs. C.W. Rogers, wife of the Frisco Railroad official
for whom the town was named, was instrumental in its founding; her St. Louis
congregation donated the pews and pulpit. The church founded the
Rogers Academy,
an early school and cultural center for the entire community. In 1911 the church
merged with the First Presbyterian Church U.S.A. to become the Presbyterian
Church of Rogers. The Congregational Church at Second and Poplar was razed in
1914 to become home to the Mutual Aid Union building.
