Women's Study Club/Mas Luz Club

A literary society began in Rogers in 1897 when a number of local women organized the "Mas Luz Club," meaning "more light." In 1902 the name was changed to the Women's Study Club.

Besides its literary studies, the Women's Study Club contributed money to the public schools and organized adult education classes. The group's most notable accomplishment was the opening in June 1904 of the first public library in Rogers. By 1933 the city administration took over the administration of the library.
