YOUTH FOOTBALL (GRADES 6-8)


                  

GRADES 6-8  (Flyer)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: EXTENDED TO AUGUST 5, 2013
FEE: $80.00 per player

ELIGIBILITY: Players must be in the 3rd (third), 4th (fourth), 5th (fifth), 6th (sixth), 7th (seventh) or 8th (eighth) grade in the 2013-2014 school year. No player may turn 11 prior to August 15, 2013 and participate in the 3rd/4th league. No player may turn 13 prior to August 15, 2013 and participate in the 5th/6th league. No player may turn 14 prior to August 15, 2013 and participate in the 7th/8th league.

PHYSICAL: Each player must submit a copy of a current physical examination that was taken during the 2013 calendar year before equipment will be issued to the player. Please be sure to use a sports physical form (Rogers Public Schools form is available at http://www.rogersschools.net/  Click on Programs/Athletics/go to Athletic physicals at the bottom of the page/click Ath physicals and history form.

EQUIPMENT: August 3 6th/7th/8th Graders 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
3rd/4th/5th Graders 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
August 10 All Grades 9:00 a.m.-12:00p.m.

Players must provide their own shoes, football pants, padding for the pants, practice jersey, chinstrap, and mouthpiece. The league will provide each player with a helmet, game jersey, and shoulder pads. Players may use their own shoulder pads or white helmets, but the league director must first inspect these.

Coaches Meeting: August 5th: Mandatory USA Football training and coaches meeting. 3/4th grade and 7th/8th grade coaches at 5:30
p.m., & 5/6th grade coaches at 8:00 p.m.. This group will process evaluations first and then do the training. A make up training night will be offered on August 7th from 6-8.

PRACTICES BEGIN: Week of August 12 (Helmets and Shorts for first three practices)

PRACTICES: Before the first scheduled game, teams are limited to a maximum of 4 (four) practices a week, with a maximum duration of 120 minutes each. After the first game, the 3rd/4th grade league is limited to a maximum of two (2) practices a week, the 5th/6th grade league and the 7th/8th grade league is limited to a maximum of three (3) practices a week. Practices have a maximum duration of 120 minutes each.

GAMES BEGIN: September 7

WEIGHT LIMIT (To Carry Football): 3RD/4TH (<96) 5TH/6TH (<126) 7TH/8TH (<156)

PLAYER EVALUATION DATES:

3rd/4th Graders *No evaluation (placed on teams by school)
5th/6th Graders August 5 (Mon) 6:00p.m.(5th) and 7:00p.m.(6th)
7TH/8TH Graders *No evaluation (placed on teams by school)

*Player Evaluation is for players that will be going into the 5thgrade or 6th grade that DID NOT PLAY LAST SEASON, or any 5th grader or 6th grader that wants to go back in the draft. Evaluations will be at Foerster Park (just west of RAC).*

TEAM FORMATION 3rd/4th Grade League: Third and Fourth grade players will be placed on a team on the basis of the elementary school they attend. Players that do not attend one of the elementary schools will be placed on a team by the league director based on the number of players already on each team.

TEAM FORMATION 5th/6th Grade League: Fifth and Sixth grade players will be drafted on a team by the coach of the team. All Fifth grade players and all Sixth grade players that did not play last season will go through an evaluation process that will involve various drills that indicate mobility and quickness. Fifth grade players and Sixth grade players that played last season will be placed back on the same team, UNLESS OTHERWISE REQUESTED BY THE PARENT. TEAM FORMATION 7th/8th Grade League: Seventh and Eighth grade players will be placed on a team on the basis of the middle school they attend. Players that do not attend one of the middle schools will be placed on a team by the league director based on the number of players already on each team.

Pre-Season Kickoff Football: A two day camp August 7-8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Foerster Park (just west of the RAC building) by Wes O’Neal, a former Razorback and his staff will focus on speed and agility, combined with football fundamentals in preparation for the upcoming season. Cost: $60.00 (RAC membership required)

Pre-Season Kickoff Event: **NEW THIS YEAR** August 9th: Starting at 5:30 at the RAC. Mandatory USA Football player training for all participants by certified USA Football coaches, followed by introduction of teams, a hot dog cookout and flag football with the Arkansas Guardians Minor League football team.
