Rogers
Community Recycling Center
The Rogers Community Recycling Center is located behind the
Rogers Activity Center. It is a collaboration of efforts
between the City of Rogers, residents of Northwest Arkansas,
and senior citizen volunteers. We are the largest
independent drop-off recycler in Arkansas, accepting
recyclables 7 days/week, 24 hours/day. The Arkansas
Recreation and Parks Association recognized their efforts by
naming RCRC the "Program of the Year". Local, state and
national organizations too have honored them with awards.
Volunteers are needed daily to sort, stack, and unload
recyclable materials.
Currently, the facility accepts aluminum cans, aluminum
scrap, cardboard, chipboard, glass-clear, glass-colored,
newspapers, office paper, #1 plastic bottles only, #2
plastic-white milk jugs and vinegar jugs only, and #2
plastic bottles only. Plastics must have #1 or #2 on them to
be accepted.
The Rogers Community Recycling Center does not
recycle magazines and catalogs.
Eighteen or so senior citizens volunteer at RCRC. In 1998
our median age was 72. Our "most senior" volunteer is 90
years old. To date the net income of the RCRC is $1,440,000,
and $1,024,000 has been donated to community programs. The
RCRC has recycled over 31,000,000 pounds of recyclable
material and trash that otherwise would have taken up more
than 2,500,000 cubic feet of space in a landfill. With the
recent expansion of the facility, a covered drive-thru
drop-off area provides comfort, as well as convenience for
our citizens.
