What’s New
We are constantly making improvements to the Adult Wellness
Center to better serve our members. Read below for
more information on our latest projects. Check back
often for updates!
Adult Wellness Center Gardens
With a generous donation from the Community Development
Block Grant, the Adult Wellness Center will be able to
expand into the three acres behind the building to offer
outdoor wellness activities. We are working with Gene
Geren, Landscape Architect, from Crafton, Tull, Sparks, &
Associates to come up with a master plan for the outdoor
space. Based on a member survey, items we are planning
to include are walking trails, exercise stations, a
labyrinth, a water feature with live ecosystem, bird
watching areas, meditation gardens, a gazebo, a lawn area
for outdoor concerts, classes, and recreational activities,
a picnic area, and teaching gardens. Once the plan is
completed, we will start construction. Our wish is to
have a functional trail by this fall and a completed project
by next spring. If the master plan requires more than
the $250,000 grant, we will have to do the project in
phases.
Ceramics in the Arts & Crafts Studio
A room located inside the arts & crafts room was designed to
house a kiln. We plan to complete the electrical
requirements and purchase a kiln and other necessary pottery
equipment. We then will add a variety of pottery and
ceramics classes to the arts & crafts curriculum. The
funds for this project are coming from the Charter
Membership Fundraiser.
Mobile Computer Lab
We have had an overwhelming response for computer
classes since we opened the building. Our 6-station
computer lab in the library has quickly been outgrown!
We are purchasing 12 laptop computers and other required
equipment to allow us to have a mobile computer lab.
We will be able to offer classes in larger rooms in the
center, better designed for teaching. The library
computer lab will be available more for general use by our
members. The funds for this project are coming from
the Charter Membership Fundraiser
Saturday Hours
You asked for it, and we’re finally in a position to do it.
The Adult Wellness Center is open on Saturdays from 8:00
a.m. until noon.
Silver Sneakers
For almost a year, we have been working to get the Silver
Sneakers fitness program at the Adult Wellness Center. We
are in the contractual phase now. Hopefully, we will
have more to report soon.

Building Miscellaneous
- An Automated blood pressure machine is available for
member use in the fitness center thanks to a donation
from Walton Family Foundation.
- We are adding 36 small lockers in the hallway
outside the fitness center to help alleviate our locker
shortage problem in the locker rooms. The lockers
were purchased by the Dave Beatty memorial fund.
- We have completed some window tinting in the
gymnasium and have ordered padding for the columns.
In the future, as funds are available, we will tint the
windows in the fitness center and pool areas and will
pad the walls in the gymnasium.
